Qualifying Bet and Strategy

For this offer we will be placing a simple qualifying bet. At the time of writing this guide Arsenal were available at odds of 3.00/3.05.

To calculate our optimal stake for this offer we need to divide the winnings of £25.00 by our back odds – 1. For the odds of 3.0 our calculation should look like this: £25.00 / 2.0 = £12.5. We should round this figure up or down as to not look like we are solely betting the minimum or maximum for the offer so we shall be using a £15.00 stake.

We can enter our details for the qualifying bet on the Matched Betting Calculator as follows: Stake £15.00, Arsenal back odds 3.00, Arsenal lay odds 3.05, lay commission 2%.

As you can see the calculator tells us to lay £14.85 on Arsenal.

Our potential profit/loss for this offer breaks down as the following:

Outcome William Hill Exchange Profit/Loss
Arsenal don’t score first and win +£30.00 -£30.44 -£0.44
Arsenal don’t score first and lose -£15.00 +£14.55 -£0.45
Arsenal score first and win +£30.00 -£30.44 -£0.44
Arsenal score first and lose or draw +£22.50 +14.55 +£37.05

What happens next?

As you can see by the table above, if Arsenal score first but draw or lose the game our bet will still be paid out as a winner. We’ll receive our £25.00 in winnings plus our original qualifying stake of £12.50 (the remaining £2.50 of the initial £15.00 did not contribute to the promotion). We’ll also win £14.55 at the exchange meaning a total profit of £37.05!

If any of the other outcomes occur we stand to lose £0.45. We can however use alternative methods to make a profit if England score first and win, check out the Golden Goal Guide for more information.
