From time to time, certain bookmakers like Sky and Paddy Power will offer a refund – usually around the £10 mark if your bet loses, but a result occurs. This may either be paid in cash or as a free bet.
These offers can be a great way to acquire free bets to extract profit from. A few examples of these include: Money back if your horse fails to win but the starting price favourite does or if a high profile football game like Manchester United vs Chelsea is being played. Money back could be offered on all losing bets if Chelsea win. The markets that offer a refund on football games are typically First Goalscorer (FGS), Correct Score and the bookmakers “create your own bet” style markets (RequestABet, #WhatsOddsPaddy, BetBuilder etc).
For horse racing the best option is to go for a horse other than the horse required to trigger a refund at the lowest qualifying loss. For example, money back on all losers if Enabled wins – we simply find any other horse in the race with the lowest possible qualifying loss to try and trigger a refund.
For refunds on other markets i.e football or rugby we can simply browse the select markets to find a suitable qualifying loss, or request a custom bet from the bookmaker that we can lay off at the exchange. It sounds daft but bookmakers will price up 1×1 and both teams to score market even thought they already have a market for it! They will sometimes price them in your favour so its always worth a shot.
